Agri-Food Hub: A Taste of Lethbridge

A video series honouring the people who nourish our province
Every corner of this province holds a story worth telling. Prairie grain fields that stretch into the horizon. Generational farms where knowledge is passed down like heirlooms. Urban gardens tucked between buildings, proving that food can grow anywhere people care enough to nurture it.
But the heart of this series isn’t just the landscapes—it’s the people.
It’s the chefs who admit they’re still learning where their ingredients come from.
It’s the farmers who rise before dawn to feed a province.
It’s the students dreaming of a future where sustainability isn’t a trend but a way of life.
It’s the communities working to rebuild trust, transparency, and connection in a food system that often feels distant.
This new short‑form video series is a celebration of that relationship. It’s a tribute to the land that feeds us, the people who steward it, and the traditions—old and new—that shape Alberta’s culinary identity. The series aims to reconnect viewers with the origins of their food, celebrate the people behind it, and inspire conscious choices that support local economies and ecosystems.

CONNECTING YOU TO ALBERTA'S FOODSCAPE
Alberta on the Plate showcases the incredible bounty that is grown and produced across our beautiful province. Throughout the year, we celebrate and share the Alberta food story by introducing you to the people and businesses that grow, raise, create, and support the agri-food industry in Alberta. We also help to establish meaningful connections between local chefs and producers to increase the volume of local ingredients used in restaurants while building the resiliency of our local food value chain.
Every August during Alberta Local Food Week, Alberta on the Plate hosts a ten-day, province-wide dine around festival. For those ten days, participating restaurants offer multi-course, fixed-price menus highlighting local producers, growers, distillers and brewers. Show your support of Alberta food by dining in or ordering out at our participating restaurants both during the festival and throughout the rest of the year!
