chef rupert garciaOriginally from the Philippines, Hawthorn’s Chef Rupert Garcia has been in the kitchen since the age of 16. After graduating from SAIT, he received the distinguished Red Seal Chef certification and earned membership in the renowned Chaine Des Rotisseur. With extensive experience including stints in Michelin-starred establishments in New York and San Francisco, as well as prestigious restaurants in Calgary, Rupert is trained in Contemporary Cuisine with a strong background in French & Asian cuisine.

An award winning Chef, Rupert has garnered numerous accolades throughout his career, notably placing 2nd while representing Canada in the Chaine Des Rotisseur in 2014. Most recently, he was awarded the silver medal in the Canadian Culinary Championship, the nation’s premier culinary competition, where he competed against the best chefs from across Canada in February 2024.
