The name “The Red Brick” was selected to tie in various factors and characteristics. The first is obvious to the patron, being that vermilion is a shade of red. Another is historical, as Vermilion was known for manufacturing red bricks from 1906 to 1914 and the brick factory was one of the earliest businesses in Vermilion. “The Red Brick” is intended to be a distinct and diverse destination in a town desperate for something different. On the surface “The Red Brick” will be a local health-food store that sells coffee and homemade baked goods. The goal is for “The Red Brick” to be a locally-sourced and sustainable business-hub that supports local Vermilion artists, farmers and entrepreneurs that brings the community of Vermilion together.
